2. Brief introduction of turbine structure and main component
This shaft-extension type tubular turbine shall be horizontal shaft, fixed runner blades and adjustable guide vanes. Water flow shall be led from water inlet casing pipe through stay column, distributor, runner, draft tube and be drained to tail water canal. Water flows through turbine to make its potential energy and dynamic energy be converted rotational mechanical energy on turbine shaft which can drive generator to rotate for power generating. Turbine and generator shall be connected through coupling of bearing housing, and be used governor to realize start, parallel, increase and decrease of load, and stop.
GD006-WZ-65 turbine consists of: assembly of water inlet part, Thordon bearing, distributor, rotational part, runner chamber and draft tube cone, regulating mechanism, draft tube bend embedded part, thrust bearing housing. (Maximum lifting weight: 3.2 tons)
Turbine outer water passage shall consist of connection pipe of water inlet, stay column, outer ring of guide vane, runner chamber, draft tube cone, draft tube bend etc.
Connection pipe of water inlet, stay column shall be adjusted well and be grouted into 1st stage of concrete. Stay column has 2 footings. Draft tube cone has one footing which is fastened on foundation buttress. Draft tube bend is fastened by 2 footings which parts of them shall be grouted into 2nd stage of concrete. In order to be convenient for installation and maintenance, runner chamber and draft tube cone shall be split into 2 parts, which it shall be connected by flanges between draft tube cone and draft tube bend.
2.1 Assembly of water inlet part
Diameter of turbine water inlet pipe is 1014 mm, which on its top, it shall be opened a rectangle hole for the use of installation inside bulb body, and on its bottom opens drainage hole for the use of maintenance.
Stay column shall consist of 4 columns, 2 footings and inner ring. It shall be on top of stay ring installed pressure meter which can measure the pressure at water inlet. Radial bearing shall be installed on lower half of flange of inner ring. Weight of components within water passage of turbine, dynamic load shall be transmitted to concrete foundation through stay column.
2.2 Assembly of Thordon bearing
It shall be adopted imported Thordon bearing from abroad for this turbine bearing which is assembled with bearing housing under frozen condition of dry ice. After it is put under normal temperature indoors. It shall be done fine processing on inner diameter of bearing to dimension regulated by indoor temperature. On this half of bearing, it is opened water sump which is guaranteed its axial line on upper location so that it can store lubrication water. (Note : clean water for lubrication). Bearing shall be installed on inner ring of guide vane, which can transmitted torque to concrete foundation through connection between inner ring and stay ring.
2.3 Assembly of distributor
This part shall mainly consist of outer ring of guide vane, guide vane seat, inner ring, 12 pics.of guide vane, control ring, pressure ring, guide vane sleeve, guide vane arm, connection plate, steel ball and joint bearing, which its weight is around 1.94 tons.
It shall have split pressure ring for control ring, which can adjust adapter plate between split pressure ring and control ring to make control ring to be in condition of automatic centering to reduce friction of steel balls for making less friction torque of control ring.
Axial line between guide vane and turbine shall be formed inclination of 80°, which is cone arrangement. Profile or airfoil of guide vane shall be space twisted streamline, which its range for rotational angle shall be 0~75°.
Guide vane shall be adopted inblock cast with its structure of 2 fulcrum. In order to be convenient for installation, it shall be equipped guide vane short shaft on inner ring which is matched with shaft end hole on guide vane inner ring. Inside guide vane stem hole, it shall be pressed GS-2 steel back composite sleeve which is lubricated by clean water. Material for guide vane upper sleeve shall also be adopted GS-2 steel back composite sleeve which is pressed into guide bush. Guide vane seal shall be adopted rubber ring which is tightly pressed by seal pressure ring.
Adjustment for the clearance between upper and lower guide vane section shall be realized through the thickness adjustment by bolt at guide vane stem and adapter plate ring.
It shall send alarm signal when shear pin is blocked and cut by foreign matter among guide vanes or between guide vane and inner & outer ring for protection of other components non-destroyed. It shall be equipped with shear pin and shear pin signal accnounciator on every 12 pieces of guide vane. When there is any blocking between the inner and outer ring in the guide vane, the shear pin should be triggered and connection rod ball pivot shall be adopted GE20ES standard joint bearing for prevention of dust to go into bearing. It shall be equipped bearing cover to guarantee free actuation of guide vane connection plate, guide vane arm.
In order to limit opening of guide vane, it shall be assembled limitation block on inner ring of guide vane seat.
2.4 Assembly of regulating apparatus
It shall be adopted servomotor and steel fork head on control ring to form a link mechanism by which governor can control guide vane opening to realize start/stop of generating unit, adjustment of unit output.
2.5 Assembly of rotational part
Rotational part shall mainly consist of runner, main shaft, short shaft etc. which is important part. Potential and dynamic energy of water flow shall be transmitted into rotational mechanical energy through runner to generator shaft via turbine and become electric power. Therefore, rotational part shall act as the function of energy conversion and transmission.
Runner shall be the heart of turbine, by which turbine energy conversion shall be realized and completed. So, it shall have high efficiency, excellent anti-cavitation performance to guarantee generating unit economic, stable operation. Runner blades shall be adopted GD006 runner which is researched and developed by institute.
Runner shall have 4 blades which is welded with runner hub. It shall be processed CNC milling machine when processing runner blades so that it can be strictly controlled streamline, degree of wave and roughness to guarantee high efficiency of turbine.
2.6 Assembly of runner chamber and draft tube cone
This part shall consist of runner chamber and draft tube cone.
In order to be convenient for installation and maintenance, it shall be adopted split structure for runner chamber and draft tube cone for easier measurement of gap between runner blades and top of runner chamber.
2.7 Assembly of thrust bearing housing
This "assembly of thrust bearing housing "shall have the function of axial thrust centering. This part shall consist of thrust shaft, thrust bearing housing, 29336 self-aligning thrust roller bearing (GB5859-94) and 32236 tapered roller bearing (GB297-94), copper thermal resistance etc. When installation, it shall be adjusted the thickness of adapter plate at bearing pressure cover to give pre-tightening force to bearing. It shall have 2 holes at seal part of thrust bearing housing for dismantling bearing. On upper part of thrust bearing housing, there is a M22×1.5 hole for filling #30 turbine oil to lubricate bearing, which shall not be less than min.oil level. On upper location of bearing housing, there is right angle connector where it can be filled cooling water. On lower location of bearing housing, there is right angle connector where it can be drained cooling water to guarantee working temperature less than 60ºC. It shall be installed coupling on the right of thrust shaft coupled with generator shaft so that turbine can transmit energy to generator for realization conversion from water energy to electric power energy.

2.8 Assembly of draft tube elbow and embedded part
This part shall mainly consist of draft tube bend, draft tube cone and packing type sectional seal etc.
Draft tube bend shall be the structure of welding plate. It shall be connected with draft tube cone via flange (cylinder type connection) with its adjustment clearance : 15 mm and fastened by bolts and nuts which can withstand attacking from water to draft tube elbow to improve stability of generating unit. This function shall be making water flow from draft tube cone to concrete diffuser. Water shall turn a corner with its sectional shape equivalent to equal diameter of spherical shape. In order to reduce hydraulic loss, water flow in draft tube elbow shall only be changed flow direction while its velocity shall be constant.
Shaft shall pass through bend pipe horizontally where it has packing seal around such location and it shall be equipped 1/4″water inlet pipe and supplied lubrication water for packing, and 11/2″water drainage pipe to drain its water leakage. Adjust M10×60 bolt on packing cover to change pressure of spring for tightening packing.
